The Elevator Safety Board was created by PA 227of 1967. Among its major responsibilities are promulgation of rules, preparation of examinations, and issuance of elevator contractor licenses. Ten of the board members are appointed by the governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, to serve 4-year terms.
